Actively experiencing the southern Harz around Neustadt is a healthy and alternative way to spend your vacation. But even locals are always surprised by the variety of hiking and cycling tours that are possible here in Harztor.

Cycling is prohibited on parts of this route. Here you will have to dismount and push.

Arrival
Neustadt is a village in the rural municipality of Harztor in the district of Nordhausen, nestled in the scenic southern Harz mountains in the very north of Thuringia. The district town of Nordhausen is just under 7 kilometers away, while the state capital of Erfurt is around 80 km to the south.
Neustadt is about an hour’s drive from Göttingen in Lower Saxony in the west and from the Halle/Leipzig region in the east. Bus routes 23 and 231 run from the train stations Niedersachswerfen and Ilfeld to Neustadt.
